Smart Leasing means any activity that better aligns the interests of tenants and landlords to achieve high performance, healthy, and energy-efficient buildings. The Smart Leasing program will make smart leasing processes (also known as green leasing or energy-aligned leasing) standard in Denver’s commercial real estate market by the end of 2021.
From architects and attorneys to owners and occupants, we all have a role to play in working cohesively towards energy efficiency and the City’s climate goals. Smart Leasing encourages all stakeholders in the leasing process to prioritize energy efficiency, sustainability, and building performance during the pre-lease and site selection process, lease negotiation and build-out, and occupancy and operations. Over the next three years, the program will focus on building support through targeted and continuous market engagement, recognition, training, and effective tool and resource development.
